Najosnovnije!
Sjećam se da smo oduvjek imali kod kuće staklenku štaub šećera (der Staubzucker) s mahunom vanilije. Stijenke staklenke bile su bijele od šećera i nazirala se crna mahuna uronjena u prah. Aroma vanilije davala je šećeru karakterističan mirisi i okus prepoznatljiv u svakom biskvitu i koji je fantastičan posipan po keksima.
Danas imam identičnu staklenku u kredencu moje kuhinje . . . i tradicija se nastavlja.
I remember we always had in our kitchen larder a glass jar full of icing sugar with vanilla bean inside of it (der Staubzucker). The jar glass was totally white covered with sugar and you could have clearly seen the black pod immersed in the dust. Vanilla flavor made the sugar perfumed and ready for use in any kind of sponge cakes or to be dusted on cookies.
Nowadays I have identical glass jar in my kitchen … and the tradition continues.
